ILA’AVA LAVA

3D volcanic modelling:
from textures to architecture.

malai@ilaava-lava.com

Ila’ava Lava works in the mineral exploration industry to interpret the local basin architecture that forms the host rocks to ore deposits. We use an approach that combines volcanic facies analysis, lithogeochemistry and 3D geological modelling. Our research interests extend to comparing local basins to synthesise terrane-scale palaeogeographic reconstructions. We see consistent digital geological data capture as a pathway towards achieving this.

We are developing tablet-based data capture tools that generate direct field-to-model outputs, including digital graphic logs, cross-sections, correlation charts, database-ready CSV files and 3D models.

We are also interested in the potential for consistent digital logging workflows to support geological training and the transfer of volcanic facies logging skills.
